The winter social event for SHG members was a visit to the Quaker Meeting House on Cremer Street, Sheringham. A total of some 30 members attended what was both an interesting and entertaining afternoon hosted by the “Friends”, as members of the Society are called.
Friend Sheila gave us a potted history of the Quakers in the UK which dovetailed well with the event we had in May 2025 when Georgette Vale re-enacted Elizabeth Fry for us. She then gave us more detail on the history of the Meeting House in Sheringham. Friend Ruth then gave us an insight into the lived experience of a member, before we broke for refreshments, for which the organisation is renowned.
Our thanks go to Helen Barnwell who organised the event as Social Secretary.
