Who put the Great in Great Yarmouth? – Stuart Burgess

A look at the rise of the town of Great Yarmouth from the end of the Roman period to the 16th century. Exploring how and why the Saxon street pattern of Burgage Plots survived until 1945. It examines how the names of Gorleston and ‘Yarmouth’ develop and how the merchant’s of the town fought for control of both the river and their fishing rights.
Meet at the Sheringham Museum at the Mo. 7.00 for a 7.30 start.
The museum is on Lifeboat Plain. Please use the School Entrance towards the rear of the building.
