DESCRIPTION:Event preceded by virtual AGM \n\n\n\n\n\nSmugglers of the 18th and 19th centuries are often depicted as heroic figures defying high taxes and an oppressive government\, all set against a backdrop of moonlight\, secret tunnels and rugged coastline. Welcome to Wells-next-the-Sea.  \n\n\n\nSteve Adcock is a member of the Wells Local History Group\, having spent a career in law enforcement\, and with the aid of local historical records and photographs\, takes one beyond the stereotypical romantic portrayal of these rebellious heroes to shine a light on the reality of smuggling at the time\, often by dangerous and violent criminals. \n\n\n\nAGM papers will be distributed ahead of the meeting.
