If you have an interest in local history why not join us at our regular monthly meetings? We have a range of speakers on topics that generally have a bias towards Sheringham, North Norfolk or Norfolk county. For example subjects such as Repton and Sheringham Park, Early Man in North Norfolk and Norfolk and the Titanic Sinking have all been covered recently.
Meetings are on the first Wednesday of most months, normally starting at 7.00. with tea or coffee.
For the past few years , under the guidance of Hugh Bradbury, the SHG has usually met at the Sheringham Museum at the Mo, on the seafront. Occasionally sessions are run at Sheringham Little Theatre. We also arrange at least one visit each year to a local site of historic interest. The group holds a December social event at a local venue.
Following the planned release of most of the Covid-19 restrictions from the 19th of July, real face to face meetings will resume. An outline programme for the remainder of calendar 2021 will be listed in the Post Lockdown Plans page of this website. Meetings once again be open to all.
This Group started as part of the Preservation Society, chaired by Mike Felmingham, which was responsible for the ‘Heritage Walk’ and Blue Plaques around the town.
Normally everyone is welcome, local residents and visitors to Sheringham alike.
But at the time of writing we have decided to limit attendance to members until we are certain that meetings with a larger audience will be safe
To give a flavour of our meetings, topics covered during the past several months are listed on the archive page.
